Hair density refers to how many individual hair fibers are present within a defined area of the scalp. It is different from the thickness of each individual strand: a person can have many fine strands and therefore high density, or fewer coarse strands and lower density.
Density influences how full the hair appears and can affect practical choices such as product amount, section size, drying time, and styling technique. Hair characteristics—including density and fiber diameter—vary considerably between individuals and populations, which is why Coded Coil treats density as its own characteristic rather than assuming it from curl pattern.
