Neem comes from Azadirachta indica, a tree widely used in traditional Indian medicine and personal care. Neem leaf powder, extracts, and oil appear frequently in scalp products, especially formulas marketed for flakes, buildup, itching, and general scalp maintenance. Laboratory research supports antimicrobial and antifungal activity from neem-derived compounds, and neem has also been studied in dandruff-focused preparations. These properties help explain its traditional scalp-care role, but neem should not be treated as a substitute for diagnosing or treating persistent scalp disorders.
