Bhringraj commonly refers to Eclipta prostrata, which is also frequently listed under the synonym Eclipta alba. It has a long history in Ayurvedic hair oils and herbal preparations and is particularly associated with scalp care and hair-growth traditions. Laboratory and animal studies have found activity related to the hair-growth cycle, including effects on hair-follicle signaling and the anagen, or active growth, phase. Those findings make bhringraj scientifically interesting, but they should not be interpreted as proof that a homemade bhringraj treatment will produce hair growth in humans.
